How did you use new media technologies in the construction, research and planning and evaluation stages?
Construction Stage
During the construction of everything, I used many different software’s and equipment than I used in AS.
1. I used a Panasonic HDC-SD60 camera, which was a HD camera, which enabled me to film in 360p (quality), which enabled me to have a clearer and more realistic music video, which made it look more professional.
2. I used a tripod which allowed me to take steady shots and shots at different angles and to also get the artist to use the tripod as a mic to take moving close up shots.
3. I used Photoshop CS5 to help me create my digipak and poster. By using this software I was able to create something new which looked more professional than something I would have done if I used another software.
4. I used Final Cut Pro 7 to edit my movie, which allowed me to edit it at high standards whereas if I used iMovie/iMovieHD I wouldn’t have been able to edit the video to a high standard that I did on Final Cut Pro 7. The picture shows how Final Cut Pro allows you to have more than one layer when editing the film whereas in iMovie you cant do this, you only have 1 layer for the movie and 2 layers for sound.
Research and Planning Stage
During the research and planning stage, I used different types of media and software.
1. I used http://www.blogger.com to help track all the work I done, and to record my process. It allowed me to upload all my work such as storyboards, mood boards and other files.by using blogger i was able to keep my work safe online which enabled me to access it from different locations so i can edit and upload new items. this made sure that my work was safe and always at easy access especially when we had problems with the school computers which kept deleting everyone's work.
2. In order for my to upload my work on blogger I used different software such as Scribd, Prezzi, YouTube, Slideshare and other software to upload my Word and PowerPoint documents as it enabled me to upload them with different sorts of media to show a variety of technologies that I used when doing my work.
Evaluation Stage
During the evaluation stage, I used different types of software.
1. When using video software such as Final Cut Pro 7 and a Panasonic HDC-SD60 camera, I was able to create high quality videos. The only problem I encountered was then when editing on Final Cut Pro 7, you had to have recorded the video in the quality that you want but because I didn’t know how to record in 720p I was only able to record in 360p which wasn’t to bad but I would have preferred it in HD quality.
2. When answering questions I used PowerPoint to help create interesting slideshows, which included sound/images. I then uploaded it straight to slideshare to put on blogger or on Prezzi to create an interactive PowerPoint to show different use of media software.
3. When creating videos, a problem that I encountered was the length of the tripod; it would only reach a certain height, which didn’t enable me to get the right shots at first. But this was resolved by getting a monopod, which reach higher heights than the tripod.
